| Refrigerators with extended holding time are commonly used for storing biological materials like embryo’s and sperm of human or veterinary descend. Users include medical, veterinary and pharmaceutical laboratories, as well as cooperatives for artificial insemination and their local do-it-yourself inseminators.
Sperm and embryo are traditionally stored in straws, but these days this widely used technique has also become popular for storing pharmaceutical materials. Straws are placed in visotubes or stored in bulk just using the goblets or canisters. Visotubes, small plastic tubes varying in form and diameter from 10 to 35mm, offer a first visual separation, in addition to the color coded straws.
The XTL vessels hold just one layer of straws, the XL have canisters tall enough to vertically hold two goblets with straws.
