| Standing majestically at the outskirts of Weyarn in Upper Bavaria, the massive horse of steel bears testimony to the artistic skill of sculptor and welder Karl-Jakob Schwalbach. Almost three and a half meters high, this larger-than-life art horse is just one of the many pieces of outdoor art created by Schwalbach. He is renowned for his innovative steel, iron, bronze and granite installation art. Many of his award-winning works can be seen in and around the city of Munich. Work further afield includes a famous dial and fountain composition for the world-renowned Electoral Palace in Trier.
Schwalbach uses the latest welding techniques for steelworks such as this colossal horse. “I work with a lot of different materials,” explains Schwalbach, “which is why it’s so important to get the welding mixture right for each project. I know I can rely on Linde Gas. Linde is more than just a gas supplier to me. I value in particular their competent advice and welding know-how.”

Small beginnings belie the massive installation art – made with the help of welding gases from Linde Gas – for which sculptor Karl-Jakob Schwalbach is famous. |
